What does this setting do?

A technical value in metres. It sets how far away the server still transmits puppets to players; beyond it they exist but stay invisible. -1 uses the game default, and that is where it should stay in almost every case. A lower value saves bandwidth but makes puppets pop into view; a higher one costs noticeable performance.

What to watch out for

Only touch this for a proven performance problem

This is not a balance knob. Set too low, puppets appear out of thin air — a symptom players routinely mistake for cheating.
