What does this setting do?

Global chat is a server's campfire: newcomers ask for help here, trades and meetings get arranged here, and here is where the feeling of not being alone comes from. That is also the counter-argument — information in global chat gives away positions and intentions.

For most servers the benefit clearly wins, especially while building a community. If you switch it off, have an active Discord, or the server feels empty even with thirty people online.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

On.

Classic PvP

On. The server lives on it.

Hardcore

Off, if immersion comes before everything else.

What to watch out for

Needs supervision

An open global chat also attracts arguments and abuse. Without admins or word filters it quickly becomes a problem — the silenced-users list is the tool for that.
