What does this setting do?
Worth noting: the default is 0 — SCUM ships drones switched off. If you want them, you have to enable them yourself.
Drones watch areas and report players, which can trigger pursuit by other enemies. They create a sense of being observed that suits the game's premise well — but they are hard for players to judge and a frequent cause of inexplicable deaths.
If you enable them, start small: one or two are enough to create the effect.

Hardcore
1 to 3.
What to watch out for
Players do not understand the consequences
Being spotted by a drone triggers reactions the game never explains. If you enable drones, announce it.
