What does this setting do?

Multiplies consumption while driving. At 1.0 the game value applies, at 0.5 a tank takes you twice as far, at 2.0 only half as far.

The value indirectly governs freedom of movement on your server. Fuel in SCUM is finite and has to be fetched from pumps that sit at the same well-known places for everyone — exactly where other players turn up too. High consumption therefore means not just more effort but more forced encounters in a few locations. For a peaceful server, lower this; for friction, leave it high.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

0.5 to 0.8. Driving stays comfortable, fuel still a resource.

Classic PvP

1.0. Fuel stations remain contested ground.

Hardcore

1.5 and up. Every trip needs planning.

What to watch out for

Think of it together with replenishment

High consumption paired with scarce refills at the pumps makes vehicles practically useless. This value and the gasoline settings belong together.

Aircraft are especially sensitive

Kinglet Duster and Mariner burn a lot by themselves. A doubled multiplier can make flights across half the island impossible.
