What does this setting do?

Hordes are triggered by noise – gunfire, vehicles, fighting. So that not every sound is evaluated individually, there is a cooldown between two checks. This multiplier changes it; it ships as 1.0.

In practice: the higher the value, the longer an area stays “deaf” after a check, and the more rarely hordes go off. Together with the activation chance this gives fine control – the chance decides whether, this value decides how often a roll happens at all.

For servers where hordes feel too frequent, this is the milder of the two levers. It keeps hordes possible while turning them into an event rather than a permanent state.

Very low values cause trouble: at 0.25 a longer firefight is being checked almost continuously and several hordes can overlap. That is rarely what anyone wants, and expensive for the server.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

1.5 to 3.0. Hordes stay the exception.

Classic PvP

1.0 (default).

Hardcore

0.5 to 0.75. Every exchange of fire may set something off.

What to watch out for

Low values let hordes overlap

Continuous checking during a fight can set several hordes off at once. That overwhelms players and server alike.
