What does this setting do?

If a player jumps with a parachute and forgets to pull, the canopy opens by itself shortly before it is too late. This switch removes that safety net.

It affects few people, but it affects them properly. Parachute jumps only occur in certain places in SCUM – with aircraft and during certain events – and anyone jumping there for the first time usually does not know they have to pull. Switched off, this is one of the few settings that kills somebody without any warning at all.

On servers with an aviation scene that is entirely intended: flying should demand skill, and an automatic canopy takes the risk out of the jump. But then it belongs in the announcements.

On every other server there is no reason to touch it. The gain in harshness is small; the annoyance when someone loses all their progress to a forgotten keypress is large.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

On. Nobody should die to a forgotten keypress.

Classic PvP

On.

Hardcore

Off, if your server has an aviation scene and announces it.

What to watch out for

It kills without warning

Someone who does not know they have to pull finds out on impact. An off belongs in your server rules.
