What does this setting do?

Behind this switch sit the events the game creates on the map of its own accord – the cargo drop and related occurrences that draw all players at the same time. They are allowed by default.

On most servers events are what brings players together. Without them a server population spreads over fifteen square kilometres and hardly ever meets; with them there is a place where something is happening several times a day. On servers with moderate traffic this switch is therefore more important than it looks.

Turning it off makes sense in roughly two cases: on very small roleplay servers that do not want forced meeting points, and as an emergency measure when performance is short – events pull many players to the same spot, and that is the heaviest load a SCUM server knows.

If you want to keep events but see them less often, the timing settings of the individual events serve you better than this master switch.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

On. Events are often the only reason to run into each other.

Classic PvP

On. They create the fights people came for.

Hardcore

On. Contested events suit a harsh server well.

What to watch out for

Events cost performance

Many players in one place is the heaviest load a server carries. If you see stutter during events, check the tick rate first.

Not the switch for gifts

Timed gifts hang on their own setting, not on this switch.
