What does this setting do?
Players who bought SCUM in the Digital Deluxe edition receive a starter pack of equipment. This switch decides whether that applies on your server. It is on by default.
The question behind it is equal starting conditions. On a server built around competition between players, an advantage you can buy is hard to justify – even though the pack is not decisive in practice. An off puts everyone on the same footing and can be explained in one sentence.
On PvE and building servers there is little against leaving it on. Nobody is harmed there if a fellow player starts with one backpack more.
The setting only affects owners of that edition. Every other player notices nothing, however it is set.
Which value suits my server?
On. No disadvantage to anyone.
Off. Everyone starts the same.
Off.
What to watch out for
Anyone without that edition never notices the setting. Complaints about unequal starts usually have another cause.
