What does this setting do?
The counterpart to general expiration, for examinable sources only. Longer means an already searched spot stays empty for longer before being restocked.
The value usually stays at 1.0. It becomes interesting if you want examinable sources as a dependable baseline supply — then choose a shorter time so they produce something regularly.
