How much examining yields

Multiplier on the yield of items that have to be examined first.

What does this setting do?

Some sources do not hand over their contents openly but have to be examined — laundry baskets, rubble piles, vehicle wrecks and the like. Those points run on their own multiplier, independent of general loot.

That is useful fine control: you can make examinable sources more rewarding and thereby reward careful, slow searching without flooding the whole map with items. To encourage roleplay and quiet exploration, raise exactly this value and keep general loot low.
