What does this setting do?
Sentries are the stationary guardians at military sites and restricted areas — they fire automatically at anything entering range. This switch removes them entirely. Mind the negation: on means "disabled".
The turrets are why the most rewarding places on the map are dangerous. Without them military loot sits practically in the open, and the skills and tools for getting past turrets become useless.

What to watch out for
Opens up the most valuable areas
Without sentries the best loot on the server is freely accessible. That shifts the balance more than most loot settings.
