What does this setting do?

Fame in SCUM is more than a score: it governs respawn options, trader access and privileges. This multiplier speeds up or slows down its accumulation.

That makes it one of the most effective levers for beginner friendliness. A newcomer with little fame has hardly any respawn options and long walks ahead; with ample fame they return where they died. If players quit within the first hour, check this value before touching loot.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

1.5 to 3.0. The early game gets noticeably friendlier.

Classic PvP

1.0.

Hardcore

0.5 to 1.0. Fame should be earned.

What to watch out for

High values devalue death

With fame to spare, each death costs only a fraction and you return immediately. That strips fights of consequence — consider it together with the fame penalties.
