What does this setting do?

The default of 0.25 means the killer receives a quarter of the fame the victim held. The reference point is notable — not a fixed amount but a share of the victim's holdings. Killing an experienced player pays well; killing a newcomer pays practically nothing.

It is an elegant mechanism: it steers violence towards worthwhile targets rather than the defenceless. Raise the value and you strengthen that effect; set it to 0 and kills carry no fame value at all, making PvP purely about loot.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

0 to 0.1. Kills should not pay.

Classic PvP

0.25 (default).

Hardcore

0.25.

What to watch out for

Newcomers are worth nothing

Because the gain depends on the victim's fame, killing beginners is fameless. If you get complaints about attacks on fresh arrivals, this value will not curb them — that needs rules.
