What does this setting do?

A shelter does not have to stand inside your base. A plain bedroll somewhere in the woods does the job too – and that is exactly what this second price is for. By default respawning inside your own flag area costs 1 gold, outside it 2 gold.

The surcharge has a clear purpose. Without it the cheapest way across the island would be: drop a bedroll at your destination, die, wake up there. The higher price makes that shortcut expensive enough not to pay off as transport.

If you notice bedrolls being used as fast travel on your server, this is the number to turn – not the price inside the flag area, which covers the ordinary journey home that you do not want to punish.

The figure ends in g for gold. Without that letter the amount is read as ordinary money, turning a serious hurdle into pocket change.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

2g (default). Enough to make abuse unattractive.

Classic PvP

5g. Bedrolls should not be fast travel.

Hardcore

10g or more.

What to watch out for

Do not forget the g

Without the letter the value is read as ordinary money. 2 instead of 2g is practically free.

It should exceed the flag-area price

Equal or lower and the distinction loses its point, turning bedrolls into a means of travel.
