How many elements one flag allows
The base limit for a single base. Every wall, every foundation, every door counts as one element.
scum.MaximumAmountOfElementsPerFlag=100
What does this setting do?
This value is the most important brake on sprawling bases. It states how many elements may stand inside one flag area, and the default is 100.
Counting is more generous than most people assume: foundations, walls, doors, windows, ramps, stairs and roofs are each one element. A hundred elements make a solid two-storey house with a yard, but not a fortress.
The number is only the base value. A squad gains elements for every additional member, and anyone allowed several flags expands the total again. What is finally permitted therefore follows from three values together – raise only this one and you will later wonder why bases are far larger than planned.
This is also the most direct lever on server performance. Every element is an object the server has to track, save and transmit to nearby players. A map with fifty generous bases costs measurable tick rate – which is why this value deserves a deliberate setting rather than the highest possible one.
Which value suits my server?
150 to 250. On building servers construction is the content, so be generous.
100 (default). Enough for a defensible base, too little for a maze.
50 to 80. Bases stay shelter, not bunker.
What to watch out for
Squad members and additional flags raise it. To know what is actually possible on your server, add all three values together.
An existing base above the new limit stays as it is. It simply cannot be extended until it drops below. Announce it before you lower it.
Elements are the most numerous objects on the map. Doubling this while complaining about stutter near bases usually means you caused it yourself.
