What does this setting do?

The island has plenty of garages, and by default their doors cannot be locked. This switch changes that.

The appeal is obvious: a lockable garage is a ready-made, walled vehicle shelter that costs nobody a single base element. That is also precisely why it is not allowed by default. Such garages do not count against the element limit, do not decay and cannot be captured through a flag takeover – a protected storage spot standing outside all the usual rules.

On PvP servers that makes it delicate. If people want to secure vehicles, they should build for it; a locked garage takes the point out of vehicle theft.

On roleplay and building servers there is little against it. There the garage is often exactly what belongs to an inhabited village.

The key stands out in the configuration by its spelling: it contains a dot and reads scum.DoorLockability.Garage. That is not nesting and not a section heading, just part of the name.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

On. A lockable garage is a convenience on building servers.

Classic PvP

Off. Free, unraidable vehicle protection distorts too much.

Hardcore

Off.

What to watch out for

It sits outside the base rules

Garages do not count against the element limit, do not decay and cannot be taken over. On PvP servers that is the real side effect.

The dot in the name is correct

The key really is scum.DoorLockability.Garage. Mistake the dot for a typo and remove it and you will never find the setting again.
