What does this setting do?

When a chest changes hands – because it stood in another squad's flag area, because a base was taken over, or because a player passed it on – this switch records it in chest_ownership.log. It is on by default.

For admins this is one of the most useful log files there is. “My chest is gone” is the most common ticket text on any SCUM server, and without this log it cannot be answered. With it you can see whether the chest was taken over, handed on or deleted.

The cost is negligible: only ownership changes are written, not every movement. The log therefore grows slowly.

Switching it off saves nothing measurable and loses the ability to settle arguments about gear on the facts. This is one of the switches to simply leave on.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

On. Answers the most common support question by itself.

Classic PvP

On. For takeovers it is the only source.

Hardcore

On. Harshness in the game, clarity in administration.

What to watch out for

The log lives on the server

On rented servers you reach it through the provider's file manager. No file access means no log either.
