Allow kill claiming
Lets a player actively claim a kill – with an effect on fame.
scum.AllowKillClaiming=True
What does this setting do?
This feature lets a player explicitly claim a downed opponent as their kill. It is not merely a statistics entry: fame gain from fighting other players hangs on claiming.
The switch is therefore a statement about what earns recognition on your server. With it on, hunting other players pays off even when their gear is worthless. With it off, fame stays a matter of survival, crafting and exploration.
On PvE servers turning it off is the obvious choice. Killing other players is precisely what should not be rewarded there, and a display celebrating kills works against the tone you want.
On PvP servers it belongs on. It is the link between combat and the progression system – without it firefights feel oddly inconsequential.
Which value suits my server?
Off. Hunting other players should not pay.
On. Firefights should mean something to the winner.
On.
What to watch out for
Whether a message appears is a separate switch. This one decides the fame gain.
