What does this setting do?

Without this switch every spawn point would roll independently – and a location that once yielded a rare weapon could deliver it again on the very next pass. Cooldown groups prevent that: items are bundled into groups, and once something from a group has been found, that group stays locked for a while. The switch is on by default.

This is the mechanic that makes running a circuit worthwhile and circling one good spot not. Without it, every server develops a handful of known locations within days that get run every few minutes.

If you find the locks too strict, do not disable them – shorten them with the matching multiplier. That is the fine adjustment; this switch is the coarse master control.

Disabling it also has an economic side effect: when rare items appear without limit, trader prices lose their reference.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

On. Otherwise exploring stops paying off.

Classic PvP

On.

Hardcore

On, with a higher multiplier on the duration.

What to watch out for

The wrong switch for fine tuning

To merely shorten the locks, change the duration multiplier. This switch only knows fully on or fully off.

Off devalues the economy

Without cooldowns rare items can be farmed endlessly, and trader prices lose their point.
