What does this setting do?

The harshest switch in the whole file: true at server start and everything is gone — characters, progress, bases, vehicles, stashes, money. The server begins as on day one.

A full wipe is sometimes right: after a major SCUM update that renders old saves unusable, or when a server is beyond saving after years. But it is always a decision about the community, not about technology. Make it without warning and afterwards there is no community left.

Reset it immediately after the run, or every further restart wipes again.

What to watch out for

Not reversible

Without a backup of the save files taken beforehand, nothing can be restored. Take a backup before any wipe — even one you want.

Leave the switch on and every restart wipes

A server that restarts automatically after the wipe will wipe again. Resetting the switch is part of the procedure.
