What does this setting do?

Not a persistent state but a one-off command in switch form. If the value is true at server start, part of the game world is reset — gentler than a full wipe but far more drastic than mere cleanup.

A partial wipe is the tool when a server is built over or economically derailed but the community should not start from scratch. Announce it first, then reset the switch.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

Off, except for an announced wipe.

Classic PvP

Off.

Hardcore

Off.

What to watch out for

Leave the switch on and every restart wipes

The most common and most expensive mistake with this setting. Set it back to false immediately after the intended run.

Without announcement you lose players

An unexpected wipe is the fastest way to lose your regulars. Date and scope belong in Discord and the message of the day at least a week ahead.
