What does this setting do?

The safe zones around traders are places where nobody can be attacked. By default no skills rise there, and this switch lifts that.

The reason for the default is clear once you think through the consequences. Skills rise through practice – running, climbing, shooting, boxing. If that counts inside the safe zone too, everything can be trained up risk-free while half the island fights over gear next door. After a few days every trader zone has a row of players running in circles.

That is not only a fairness question but a performance one: trader zones are the busiest places on the map anyway.

Enabling it only makes sense on very friendly roleplay servers where the trader zone is meant to be a meeting place and a training ground – and where nobody minds people training there.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

Off (default). Even on friendly servers, progress should happen outside.

Classic PvP

Off. Risk-free training distorts the balance.

Hardcore

Off.

What to watch out for

Trader zones fill up

An on reliably leads to players standing permanently inside the safe zone. That costs performance in already busy places.
