How long a base may protect itself

With flag-specific raid protection every owner picks their own protected window – this is its upper limit.

What does this setting do?

With raid protection of type FlagSpecific there is no fixed raid window for the whole server. Instead every flag owner decides when their base is protected – typically the hours they sleep. This value is the upper limit for that self-chosen window, eight hours by default.

It is the fairest form of raid protection, because it copes with different time zones and working hours. A player in Europe and one in the Americas protect different hours, and both are content.

Eight hours is well chosen: it covers a night and leaves two thirds of the day open. Allow considerably more and you get bases that are protected practically all the time – at which point you may as well enable protection outright. Allow less and be aware that players with unusual working hours can no longer cover a night.

The value only applies when raid protection is actually set to FlagSpecific. The other types ignore it.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

12:00:00. Generous, since raids are the exception anyway.

Classic PvP

08:00:00 (default). One night protected, the rest open.

Hardcore

04:00:00. Protection is a window, not a state.

What to watch out for

Only effective with FlagSpecific

With protection set to None, Offline or Global this value does nothing. Check there first.

Too long is the same as always on

Beyond 12 hours protection approaches a permanent state. A different protection type is then the more honest choice.
