What does this setting do?

This setting is the fundamental decision behind everything raid-related. SCUM offers four variants, and every other raid setting only takes effect with the matching variant selected.

No protection means bases can be attacked at any time. Offline protection makes a base immune while its owners are logged out — the accompanying values are the delay before it kicks in and its maximum duration. Flag-specific protection hands the decision to the players: they set per flag when their base is vulnerable. Global raid times impose server-wide windows defined in RaidTimes.json.

This choice shapes the character of a server more than any damage value. Offline protection attracts players with jobs who would rather not wake up robbed; fixed raid times suit groups who want to plan attacks and defend together.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

Offline protection, or run without raids at all.

Classic PvP

Global raid times. Everyone knows when it gets serious.

Hardcore

No protection. A base is only as safe as it is built.

What to watch out for

The other raid values depend on this choice

The offline values only work with offline protection, the announcement messages only with global raid times. If a setting appears to do nothing, check here first.

Switching mid-operation changes the rules overnight

Moving from offline protection to fixed windows exposes bases that used to be safe. Announce such a change well in advance, or you lose the very players who came for that protection.
