What does this setting do?

An encounter is not over once you have killed everyone – it refills. This multiplier decides how long that takes. It ships as 1.0; higher values stretch the pause, lower ones shorten it.

It is therefore one of the two values deciding whether clearing a location pays off. With long pauses you can clean out a village, loot in peace and leave again. With short pauses you are under constant pressure, and looting turns into a siege.

The value has a performance side effect. Short refill times mean more enemies in the world at once, and when players are standing there who all have to see them, that costs tick rate. When people complain about stutter in busy settlements, it is worth a look here.

It works together with the batch size: this value says when, the other says how many at a time. Only together do they give the full picture.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

1.0 to 2.0. Clearing a place should buy some quiet.

Classic PvP

1.0 (default).

Hardcore

0.5 to 0.75. Nowhere stays safe for long.

What to watch out for

Short times cost performance

More reinforcement means more enemies at once. It is one of the most common causes of stutter in settlements.

Only half the answer

How many arrive at a time lives in its own setting. Consider both values together.
