What does this setting do?

This switch removes reinforcement from encounters entirely. What is killed stays killed. It is off by default.

It is the most drastic switch in this group, and its effect unfolds slowly. On the first day nobody notices. After a week the frequently visited settlements are noticeably emptier. After a month the map is largely depopulated, and that cannot be recovered without a wipe.

There are exactly two sensible uses. The first is narrative: a server where the island really is meant to be liberated and the players work towards it together. The second is technical: an emergency brake when a server is collapsing under the number of characters and you need time to correct other values.

For everything else the time and batch multipliers are the right tools. They can aim in the same direction far more finely – and they are reversible.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

Off. An empty island is boring after two weeks.

Classic PvP

Off.

Hardcore

Off. Harshness comes from more enemies, not from none.

What to watch out for

Not reversible without a wipe

Switching it back off does not bring the killed enemies back. The map stays empty until the world is reset.

The effect is delayed

Nothing shows in the first few days. Which is exactly why the switch is often noticed too late.
