What does this setting do?

Coma is the intermediate state between healthy and dead. Someone taking severe injuries goes down and stays unconscious – and during that time can be found, treated and saved by other players. It is allowed by default.

The switch therefore decides something larger than a mechanic: whether first aid exists on your server at all. With coma, bandages, medical skills and fellow players have a point. Without it, every severe injury is an endpoint and medicine loses most of its purpose.

For PvP, coma has a second appeal: an unconscious opponent is a decision. You can rob them, leave them, take them along or finish them – situations that simply do not exist without that state.

Turning it off suits servers that like things hard and fast. It makes firefights shorter and more final and takes away a group's ability to get fallen members back on their feet.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

On. Helping each other is half the content on a PvE server.

Classic PvP

On. Unconscious opponents create the more interesting decisions.

Hardcore

Off. Badly injured means dead.

What to watch out for

Without coma, medicine loses its point

Turning the switch off also devalues bandages, blood bags and the medical skills.
