How many elements make a siege possible
The size at which a base counts as a target at all. 100 elements by default.
scum.BaseBuildingEncounterMinNumElementsToStart=-1
What does this setting do?
Not every base gets besieged – only those that have reached a certain size. This value is the threshold, and the default -1 stands for 100 elements.
That makes it the real dial for “who does this happen to?”. Set low, medium-sized bases come into view too. Set high, the event stays reserved for genuinely large compounds – and thereby becomes a signal that a base has grown too big.
There is a practical trap here: set this value above the element limit per flag and no siege will ever happen, because no base can reach the threshold. That is a valid way to disable the event – but do it by accident and you will look for the fault in the wrong place for a long time.
Counting covers the whole flag area, not individual buildings. A squad spreading its 300 allowed elements over four houses still has 300 elements.
Which value suits my server?
150 to 250, well above the usual house size. Only real fortresses become targets.
-1 (equals 100).
50 to 80. A solid base is reason enough.
What to watch out for
If the threshold is higher than the maximum elements per flag, no base can reach it. The siege then never happens at all.
The default is not “unlimited” but a concrete number. If you need to know it, write it out yourself.
