What does this setting do?

A base is defended not only by walls but by its flag. Anyone wanting to take it starts the process at the flag and then has to wait – 24 hours by default.

That span is deliberately long. It gives the owner the chance to log in, see that their flag is under attack and cancel the process. In practice the value is therefore not a combat number but a warning window: it decides how many hours a player has to save their base.

That dictates how to set it. On servers with many casual players who are not online every day, 24 hours is tight – 48 gives even a weekend-only player a chance. On servers with very active squads, shorter times are more exciting, because takeovers actually happen instead of merely being announced.

The format is hours:minutes:seconds, and values above 24 hours are allowed – 48:00:00 is valid input, not a mistake.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

48:00:00 or longer. Nobody should lose a base because they were away for a weekend.

Classic PvP

24:00:00 (default). A day of warning is fair and still threatening.

Hardcore

06:00:00 to 12:00:00. Fail to pay attention and you lose.

What to watch out for

The value protects the defender, not the attacker

The longer the time, the safer the bases. To see more takeovers you have to shorten it, not extend it.

More than 24 hours is allowed

This is a duration, not a clock time. 72:00:00 means three days and is valid.
