What does this setting do?

Normally the server shows bases some consideration: inside the map's threat zones it does not create new enemy groups where players have built. The idea is to stop someone being dragged into fights inside their own base that they never asked for.

This switch removes that consideration. With it on, encounters appear right next to bases too. That has an unexpected strategic consequence: without it, clever building can neutralise a threat zone – a base in the right spot keeps the reinforcements away. With this switch, that trick is over.

For a hardcore server it is appealing, because it makes building in dangerous areas dangerous again. For everyone else it mainly means bases next to restricted zones and military areas become uninhabitable.

It only affects the threat zones, not the whole map. A base in the woods stays untouched however this is set.

Which value suits my server?

Relaxed PvE

Off. Your own base should be a quiet place.

Classic PvP

Off. Building in threat zones is risky enough already.

Hardcore

On. Building in a threat zone was a choice.

What to watch out for

It removes a deliberate tactic

Without this switch, building can calm a threat zone. Players who relied on that only understand the change if you announce it.

Threat zones only

Bases outside those areas are unaffected. If you want more enemies in general, look at the encounter settings instead.
